Snake And Ladder Introduction

Snake And Ladder Board Game

Snakes and Ladders, or Chutes and Ladders, is a classic children's board game. It is played between 2 or more players on a playing board with numbered grid squares. On certain squares on the grid are drawn a number of "ladders" connecting two squares together, and a number of "snakes" or "chutes" also connecting squares together. The size of the grid (most commonly 8Ã8, 10Ã10 or 12Ã12) varies from board to board, as does the exact arrangement of the chutes and the ladders: both of these may affect the duration of game play. As a result, the game can be represented as a state absorbing Markov chain.

The game was sold as Snakes and ladders in England before Milton Bradley introduced the basic concept in the United States as Chutes and ladders, an "improved ne...

How to play Snake And Ladder

This game can be played by 2 to 4 players. Each player start from step 1, they get a chance to throw a dice each and they move the number of steps according to the dice number result shown after you threw.

Ladder: The ladder is what every players wish to steps on. When you steps on a ladder, your player will move ahead to the steps your ladder leads to. Ladder will only lead your player move steps ahead, so stepping on a ladder is definitely a boost in the game.

Snake: Snakes are what every player tries to avoid stepping on. When you step on a snake, your players will move down to the steps your ladder leads you to. Snakes will only lead your player to move steps down, so stepping the snake is a disadvantage to the game!

Chutes and Ladders - The US Kiddie Version of Snakes and Ladders

Chutes and Ladders follows the same format as Snakes and Ladders. It's the Milton Bradley version created for the US market.

Chutes and Ladders is ideal for younger children who are still learning to take turns and just beginning to recognize numbers (the spinner stays in the single digits). It's also a gentle introduction to the higher numbers as players climb to 100 at the top of the board. And, thanks to all those chutes and ladders, it's got enough excitement to keep your 7-year-old on the edge of her seat. English and Spanish instructions are included; no reading is necessary to play. Chutes and Ladders is for two to four players.

The simplicity of the game and the see-sawing nature of the contest make it popular with younger children, but the lack of any skill component in the game makes it less appealing for older players.
